Been a long long time since you posted this. I wonder whats changed and if things have become better or worse for you and your family.
Stuff that worrying what others think about how many kids you have. As long as you love and care for your kids you should have as many as you are happy with and able to care for.
I think its bulls*&t what you are being payed.
I'm a single mum and doing OK on the current payments... Well, I really really wasn't, struggled for years, but since my son was old enough to go to Prep I have been self-employed and doing much much better. I have made a point of earning just enough, in the restricted hours I can work, to not have my pension cut but to make enough to have us living comfortably.
My beef is the fact that a person or couple earning $100 000 a year can receive the same benefits as me, who up until last year was earning nothing. I don't understand this.
I couldn't fathom what you are going through and how hard it must be.
Unfair payments for parents of teens « Result #3 on Dec 4, 2007, 4:12am »
I have 5 children, ranging in age from 17 to 8yrs old.
I find the way the payments are staggered are unfair. Obviously, no one thought of the cost of raising children in a realistic sense when setting payment rates.
Currently, you get a higher rate for a child under the age of 5, now as every parent knows, the older a child gets, the more expensive it gets to clothe and feed them. You get a higher rate once the child hits 13, but then there is this massive drop once they turn 16.
Now, I considered this as to a reason why, that Centrelink assumes that mosty teens get part time jobs about this time, so are able to contribute towards their clothes etc.
However, some children prefer concentrating on school instead.
I prefer my children to concentrate on school, get a decent education so they can get a decent job, rather than find a part time job that does take time from study, the child gets tired, concentration at school goes down.
My 17yr old has already left school(her choice), she is working, but before she did, i recieved a princely sum of $50 per fortnight(not accurate, but can't be fudged going and getting the rates right now), this money was supposed to help educate, feed and clothe her.
I do work, my husband is disabled, so money is tight at times, just so its clear. i do not recieve a pension, nor does my husband.
My 15 yr old is starting yr 11 next year, my 13 yr old starts yr 8. For my 15yr old, $375 it will cost me in just fee's. For my 13yr old, its $150. Then add in my two younger ones $120 combined. now this does not include books for any of them. My 15 yr old turns 16 in Febuary, I am now wondering how the hell i will be able to afford to keep her in school.
As of Feb 19th, I will get $50 a fortnight for her, this is going to really go nowhere.
This is placing an unfair burden on some parents, as they are struggling to pay bills(mine are all good, I don't have that worry), then to worry about paying for their child's education, not to mention clothes etc.
The payments should be a lot more fairer, with the rate staying the same until the child reaches the age of 18, to help parents keep their kids at school.
Plenty will criticise because I have 5 children, some will say why have so many when you cannot afford them. I refute that, I work, i provide for my family, my family tax helps me with that I will admit, but I am not dependent on any other form of welfare.
I hold down three jobs, I have 1 day a week that i do not work, that i can spend with my children, I refuse to take the easy road and drop some of my work, then get welfare assistance. I had my kids, i will support them.
I am grateful for Family tax, but just wish they would be a bit more realistic, and look at the prices these days involved in raising children, then setting realistic amounts, aimed at helping families a bit more.

Recently, due to his sister committing suicide, a friend of mine was unable to get all his paper work into the strathpine office. thats Strathpine queensland Brisbane Australia Strathpine 242 Gympie Rd, Strathpine QLD 4500 , So they cut him off, whats appalling though is they also cut of off his wife and three daughters who were not under review. one of his daughters is serverly physically handicapped and the youngest has Autism.
